Behind the Dress: Lisette

Behind the Dress: Lisette

Our expert design team has merged our Lisa dress, popular for her faux wrap detail, with the chiffon split sleeves of our Steviedress. Which means we now have our newest figure flattering style, Lisette! Both Lisa and Stevie were created by the now-retired patternmaker Lisa (read more about her here). So it only seemed right that Sally, who took over the Lisa and Stevie patterns in 2018, also be the patternmaker for Lisette! Let’s go behind the dress with Sally…

Sally is Chicago-born, but a California native who has been in the fashion industry since 1971. Prior to patternmaking for Connected Apparel, she studied in London for 3 years and was a designer, creating womenswear and denim jeans. Sally has been working with Connected Apparel for over 15 years.

In 2022, Sally was able to put our new plan for a flattering dress style for hourglass to fuller figured women by adding the Stevie sleeves to the Lisa bodice. Sally explains that this process was a bit difficult, because the typical stretch knit of the Lisa required bigger arm holes to fit the chiffon Stevie sleeves. After a few fittings with our in-house fit model, the Lisette was finally approved.

Sally says she loves the Lisette “because it’s flattering to all body types” and that her favorite part of the dress-making process is “seeing the final product on women and the images on the website.”

Here are 3 More Reasons to Love Lisette:

1. She’s a staple LBD

Having a little black dress is a closet essential. They are an easy go-to for almost any occasion and they never go out of style. The Lisette is one of those dresses. Chiffon sleeves and wrap details have been staples in fashion for decades. And while certain fashion trends may come and go, the attributes of classic little black dresses have lasted the test of time.

2. Figure Flattering Details

Being the body conscious company that we are, we are mindful of what compliments our customer’s figure. That’s why our Lisette is a ruched faux wrap front dress that creates an extra layer of draping in the mid-section for coverage while the bodycon fit accentuates your most desirable curves. Plus, the chiffon sleeves add the extra arm coverage, with the ability to move easily.

3. Easy to Care Instructions

Despite what you may think at first glance, our Lisette dress was made to be a carefree, machine washable dress. This means you can throw her in the wash with like colors and not worry about shrinkage or tearing her sheer black sleeves.
